You can't learn this in a book.

As much as I hate to admit it, I cannot think of anything I haven't repossessed or foreclosed on. Planes, trains, automobiles-too many to count. Restaurants, cattle, artwork, coins, guns, boats-you name it, I've probably taken it. No type of real estate left unscathed. 

The 20 years I spent working for banks in commercial collections taught me quite a bit. Then one day I decided that knowledge would be best put to use helping small business borrowers.

Now, you may look at our services and think that because we offer products to banks and their attorneys, we are playing both ends of the field. I suppose, to some degree, it is true. Reality is that banks often make mistakes, or they may simply be under resourced. Regardless, by helping a bank, we ultimately help the borrower.. THAT is our mission.

It is within this framework that experience, and only experience, matters. You can't teach this profession in a book - there literally is no manual. You have to live this job for many years and work with every type of borrower, business, industry, contract, and collateral to truly know how a bank and a borrower can work together when it really matters.
